Sexual violence: A disgrace to society claiming to be civilized!!

※※Refuse to play a role in someone else’s pain
Don’t let your ‘fun’ mean a lot of pain to someone else.
Remember there is no joy in hurting someone who did nothing wrong to you - NAMUNYAK NKURRUNAH※※

Sexual violence: A disgrace to society claiming to be civilized!!
Rape is something that is traumatizing to anyone; man, woman, boy, girl, elderly or child.
The worst part is that sexual violence and rape are perpetrated, not automatic or as a response to stimuli!!

A rapist or sexual offender usually comes to a pre-meditated decision to defile; just as a first degree murderer, it never just happens!!
They plan, and actually look forward to committing the act; whether in five minutes or five years; they WANT to do it even though they KNOW its wrong!!

No person deserves to be touched or violated, regardless of whether they are naked or not.
When we see a mad person stripping in public, the first reaction is to restrain the person THEN cover them up.
So, what's with the excuse that she looked so sexy in that dress, or that he was so handsome he could make cute babies??
And our little boys; their innocence and naivety is beautiful to look at, but not to destroy!! Our little girls; she will indeed grow to be a gorgeous siren but that is no reason to traumatize her just because!!!

Sexual violence is despicable, and a putrefaction of society covered in swagger and glitz!!!
Its disgusting!!!
No man deserves to have Valium and Cialis in his drink just because he won't sleep with you!!
No woman has to pay for your filthy thoughts against women!!
That is plain rotten.

Do you know the worst part?
Its that the PERPETRATOR is usually protected to save face, for the victims' and perpetrators' families!
Its even worse when both come from the same circle of family or close family friends!! And everyone will ALWAYS know the truth, but choose to save face!!!
The victim will not know whether to report because he or she does not want to be sidelined; violation is trauma enough!!!
So they live with it until something happens;
-a disease is diagnosed,
-a pregnancy occurs
-or when the mental state of the victim is so compromised it takes professional help to help them cope..
and its normally too late!!

Like I said, we live in a swaggerific and glamorous society; apparently, these things happen only to the poor and defenseless; not the rich, educated, polished members of society - the same class with the most deviance of morals, suicide and depression!!!
Sexual violence of any form should not be tolerated at all!!

BUT GOD DOES NOT ASLEEP...
For the affected though; God never sleeps. He will lift you beyond your circumstances, and He will prepare a feast in front of your enemies!!
You will need to pour out your pain to Him though; healing starts from the spirit, then pours out to other areas of our lives, then to those around us.

※※For He has good plans for us, no matter our circumstances; He will establish us and even those who have no clue of what happened will surely acknowledge that God is indeed for you.※※

※※never carry the ulcer in your heart.. there are many humans who can help you cope and move forward stronger, and you will lift others in the process.

Not everyone is an animal...
There are many who care; or you can reach out to me for connection to some of them ※※

Your Health: Sesame Seed health Benefits

sesame health benefits

Sesame seeds may be the oldest condiment known to man. They are highly
valued for their oil which is exceptionally resistant to rancidity.
※this is a long one... sesame seeds are just a wonder!!!!※

Just a hand full of sesame a day provides enough recommended levels of phenolic anti-oxidants, minerals, vitamins and protein.

Not only are sesame seeds an excellent source of copper and a very good source of manganese, but they are also a good source of calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, vitamin B1, zinc, molybdenum, selenium, and dietary fiber.

Zinc is thought to be good for sexual health (it can help testosterone and sperm production in men)

In addition to these important nutrients, sesame seeds contain two unique
substances: sesamin and sesamolin, which belong to a group of special beneficial fibers called lignans, and have been shown to have a cholesterol-lowering effect in humans, and to prevent high blood pressure and increase vitamin E supplies in animals.

Sesamin has also been found to
protect the liver from oxidative damage.
※read more on oxidative stress and anti-oxidants here※

Sesame is among the seeds rich in quality vitamins, and minerals.
They are very good sources of B-complex vitamins such as
niacin,
folic acid,
thiamin (vitamin B1),
pyridoxine (vitamin B6)
riboflavin.

Sesame seeds are an excellent source of; copper,
manganese
magnesium,
calcium,
phosphorus,
iron,
zinc,
molybdenum
selenium.

This rich assortment of minerals translates into the following health benefits:

Sesame seeds support a healthy digestive system and colon as they are rich in fiber. This high fiber content helps to smooth the functioning of the intestine, thus facilitating waste disposal and relieving constipation.

Copper Provides Relief for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Magnesium Supports Vascular and Respiratory Health

Calcium Helps Prevent Colon Cancer, Osteoporosis, Migraine and PMS. A handful of sesame seeds contains more calcium than a glass of milk.

Also the high zinc content of sesame boosts bone mineral density.

The high zinc content helps produce collagen, giving skin more elasticity and
helping repair damaged body tissues.

Helps Lessen Anxiety - Sesame seeds contain the stress-relieving minerals magnesium and calcium.
Sesame also contains the calming vitamins thiamin and tryptophan that help
produce serotonin, which reduces pain, assists moods and helps you sleep deeply.

Sesame seed oil is full of nutrients which are needed for a healthy scalp and hair.

Treatment of Cracked Heels: If you have cracked heels or sore feet, you can apply sesame seed oil every night before going to bed and cover your feet with cotton socks. This should be done for a couple of days to get soft and supple feet.

Encourage Hair Growth: Sesame seeds for hair contain essential fatty acids such as omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 which promote hair growth.
Sesame seed oil stimulates hair growth by nourishing, conditioning and promoting a healthy scalp.
Regular massage with warm sesame oil penetrates your scalp, thus increasing blood circulation. ~It is comparable to a liquid vitamin that feeds your hair roots and shafts.~

Hair Darkening Qualities: Sesame seed oil is known for its hair darkening qualities which make it effective for people suffering from premature greying of hair.
It can be used with carrier oils like olive or almond oil to reap the maximum benefits.

Nutritional value of dried 0.25 cup (36g g)
Calories: 206
GI (glycemic index): very low

nutrient DRI/DV (daily value of nutrients obtained from the 36g of sesame seeds)

copper -163.3%
manganese-44.5%
calcium-35.1%
phosphorus-32.3%
magnesium-31.5%
iron-29.1%
zinc-25.3%
molybdenum -23.6%
vitamin B1 -23.3%
selenium -22.5%
fiber-17%

So, you don't really need an entire bowl of sesame to reap these benefits; about 4 table spoons and you are pumped!!!

I add mine to my ice creams, porridge, yoghurt, smoothie, fruit salads... for that crunchy punch.
And if i have yoghurt and porridge on the same day, i just add a table spoon to each...
┅Or for my sweet tooth; one teaspoon and a teaspoon of sesame seeds, spread on some bread and I get my "fix"!!!┅

Dietary Supplements: Unnecessary evils, or little healthy wonders?

~In the end, its up to you to determine how your life goes; band wagons will take you on a journey you did not need to traverse in the first place~

When you mention dietary supplements, a common thought is steroids, pills and injections to bulk up or to act as short cuts to having the perfect body... or lose weight.... but that is one sad and crippling myth!!

Dietary supplements are not only found in capsules and powders; they are also present in herbs, teas and tinctures like moringa, ginseng, stinging nettle, green tea etc

They are called SUPPLEMENTS because they TOP UP on what we may have missed on our plates
(even wild animals know this... that is why salt lick rocks and specific mud pools are popular to some animals, and so are tourist attraction sites even though wildlife survive on clean, organic diets)

One reason capsule and powder supplements are popular  is due to their cost effectiveness.
Thus, as it would take an entire platter of food to provide the same nutritional content in one capsule or serving of powder shake or tea.
This does not mean that we should rely on supplements entirely; quite the contrary!!
※※they are called SUPPLEMENTS because they top up on what we may have missed on our plates※※

This means that those on portion control diets or on medication that make it difficult to eat can effectively prevent malnutrition and the problems associated with malnutrition.
Dietary supplements mainly provide trace elements that are essential but are easily destroyed during cooking, storage or processing.
These include delicate vitamins, trace metal elements like magnesium and copper, some protein and amino acids.
Some of these minerals are totally absent in the mainstream diet like white rice and refined wheat, and some are found in fortified cereals which are pretty costly.

Here is a small breakdown on some of these minerals and some of their benefits...

Selenium
Antioxidant Protection
Selenium is required for the proper activity of a group of enzymes called glutathione peroxidases which play a key role in the body's detoxification system and they also provide protection against
oxidative stress.
※(Oxidative stress is physiological circumstance in which there is excessive risk of oxygen-related damage to the body.)
You can read more on ANTIOXIDANTS and FREE RADICALS here ※※

Of the eight known glutathione peroxidase enzymes, five of them require selenium.
In addition to the activity of glutathione peroxidase, selenium-containing enzymes are involved in recycling of vitamin C from its spent form back to its active one, allowing for greater antioxidant protection.

Support Normal Thyroid Function
A selenium-containing enzyme is responsible for transforming a less active thyroid hormone called T4 into the more active T3.
Selenium and iodine work together to keep thyroid function strong and consistent.

Copper

Copper Provides Relief for Rheumatoid Arthritis
Copper is known for its use in reducing some of the pain and swelling of rheumatoid arthritis. Copper's effectiveness is due to the fact that this trace
mineral is important in a number of antiinflammatory and antioxidant enzyme
systems.
In addition, copper plays an important role in the activity of an enzyme needed for the cross-linking of collagen and elastin — the ground substances that provide structure, strength and elasticity in blood vessels, bones and joints and youthful skin and hair.

Magnesium
Magnesium Supports Vascular and Respiratory Health
Preventing the airway spasm in asthma
Lowering high blood pressure, a contributing factor in heart attack, stroke, and diabetic heart disease.
Preventing the trigeminal blood vessel spasm that triggers migraine attacks
Restoring normal sleep patterns in women who are experiencing unpleasant symptoms associated with menopause.

Calcium

Calcium Helps Prevent Colon Cancer, Osteoporosis, Migraine and PMS
In recent studies, calcium has been shown to:
Help protect colon cells from cancer-causing chemicals
Help prevent the bone loss that can occur as a result of menopause or certain conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis.
Help prevent migraine headaches in those who suffer from them.
Reduce PMS symptoms during the luteal phase (the second half) of the menstrual cycle.

Zinc

Zinc for Bone Health
Another reason for older men to make zinc-rich foods such as sesame seeds a regular part of their healthy way of eating is bone mineral density. Although osteoporosis is often thought to be a disease for which postmenopausal women are at highest risk, it is also a potential problem for older men.
A report that  was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found a clear correlation between low dietary intake of zinc, low blood levels of the trace mineral, and osteoporosis at the hip and spine.

Zinc for beautiful skin..
Zinc is an essential mineral to produce collagen. Zinc is great for healing damaged tissues anywhere in the body.
Also, sesame oil is known to prevent skin related disorders (sesame oil is rich in zinc).

Phytosterols

Phytosterols are compounds found in plants that have a chemical structure very similar to cholesterol, and when present in the diet in sufficient amounts, are believed to reduce blood levels of cholesterol, enhance the immune response and decrease risk of certain cancers.
Phytosterols beneficial effects are so dramatic that they have been extracted from soybean, corn, and pine tree oil and added to processed foods, such as
"butter"-replacement spreads, which are then touted as cholesterol-lowering "foods."

Molybdenum,
Molybdenum, an essential mineral, plays an important role in your body's biological functions. Although this trace mineral is available in liquid and
capsule form, food is the main source for most people.
Molybdenum is commonly found in legumes, including beans, peas and lentils, leafy vegetables, grains, nuts and liver. Mineral water or "hard" tap water may also contain molybdenum.

May Protect Against Cancer
Molybdenum is a necessary soil component for preventing the growth of cancer-producing agents, known as nitrosamines, in plant foods.

For my family and friends; From a crazy animal lover!!!

I am a crazy cat and dog owner...

yep, you heard right; I am the crazy cat-lady who is always shooing everyone around, as if a simple no cannot work.

I adore dogs; I am always talking in silly high-pitched tones and giggling to waggy-tails!!
I just love animals... people find it weird; how do you love animals?

"They are not people; just because they are cute doesn't give them feelings!!" they say.. but I love them anyway.
I am the kind that will spare some milk for a stray stranger that is pleasant company;

I will feel and empathise when you share a problem with me, and try to help wherever I can. Many of my species have taken advantage of this; but I can't help but reach out!! It us a losing battle to just ignore a genuine plight!!

I don't mind cleaning up after kittens, it's not like they see me as their lady-in-waiting.
It's just like changing the diaper of the toddler whose mommy is held up somewhere, and she asked me to baby-sit for just one hour. That cute look of gratitude...  and the giggles when you rub her tummy; gets me every time.

I don't mind having monologues... It's an art I have perfected.
It's like having a conversation with that naughty two-year old who is so interesting to watch, and then she babbles her entire day to you in mumbo-jumbo... you cannot understand a single word, but you fully understand her excitement and share her joy!! Lovely little beings!!

I love hugs..never mind that the furry creature is from investigating mud-life..
I will hug you and mean it, whether you are sweaty, or greasy, you got fifty layers of make-up or your hair is full of sticky gel and in fifteen temporary colours.. I will hug you and mean it.

I am very territorial, just like these adorable creatures; believe me when I take no offence when you tell me you need space!! I have no problem letting everyone enjoy their little moments of solitude and I cannot force my way in. You force your way in mine, I calmly pretend to listen and doze off... just like a cat.. or raise my hair and look at you dead in te eyes, and walk away... always works!!

I believe in law and order; no means no and yes means yes, puppy eyes or not.
I will not promise you something just to end the conversation..

Dogs have taught me how honest they are especially when they are disappointed. So, I will not disappoint you just because it was convenient.. you trusted me!!
Cats are worse... they make it clear you are untrustworthy and dish out silent treatments... I have learned to apologize even on the slightest mishap..
I am not a doormat, but I value my relationships more...

I believe in packs and prides. I believe in family and love, and respect of hierarchy; don't expect me to save you from granny when you got yourself in that naughty mess!!
Don't expect me to flirt with the rich, handsome stranger just because he offered me a ride in his juggernaut either.. pack mentality; your own first, then the rest!!

It doesn't matter who they are: family is family; blood related or not.
I have learned how gifts can lift your spirit.. like when my cat would bring in a live lizard when am ill and in bed, hoping that the lizard will help 'heal' me just like chicken soup..
or when my dog comes silently, snuggles beside me when I over-sleep, then gently wakes me up when I sleep in too late!!

It reminds me of the days my mother would let me sleep in, knowing too well that I am not ill; I am just tired. Or when my dad would send me airtime after 'over-hearing' me complain how broke I am..
Love comes in buckets i tell you...

The greatest lesson I have learned as a crazy fur-cuddler is the art of genuine forgiveness..
I will be harsh to that naughty dog and even pinch his ears, but when I come in from work, he is always there to jump and dance upon my arrival.. he forgot i pinched his ears earlier!!

Just like my parents; I have a list of sins that would make the devil hide in shame, but they still consider me as their own.. they get stressed when I'm ill; they get frustrated when I'm hell-bent on making bad decisions, but are always there to offer support when my bad decisions get me whooped!!
Never mind the scolding; I get scolded till heavens come, but I don't end up homeless!!!

Just like these furry little beings; they will bite me when I cooperate with the vet, but will share whatever little joys they have with me because they truly mean it!!

Skin health: Beeswax and your skin

www.grampagilmans.com
Beeswax is a natural wax secreted by wax glands from the abdomen of young worker bees.

Beeswax is a natural emulsifier that infuses skin creams with the delicate rich scent of honey while sealing in moisture. It covers skin with a light, protective layer that allows the skin to breath

Added to skin creams, beeswax creates the bridge between oil and water allowing the two to mix flawlessly.

Not only does beeswax allow oil and water to mix, it adds healing, soothing and deep moisturizing properties to skin creams.

Beeswax is known to;
  • lock in moisture
  • foster cells ***(Cell signalling is part of a complex system of communication that governs basic cellular activities and coordinates cell actions. The ability of cells to perceive and correctly respond to their micro-environment is the basis of development, tissue repair, and immunity as well as normal tissue homeostasis)***
  • protect skin from damaging environmental factors

Beeswax effectively softens skin and creates a long-lasting protective coating against the elements.

Beeswax's properties and wound healing;
  • anti-inflammatory,
  • antibacterial,
  • anti-allergenic
  • germicidal
  • antioxidant

properties make it beneficial for wound healing. It is reported that beeswax contains some vitamin A, which is necessary for normal cell development.

BENEFITS for your lips...

forum.chip.co.id

beeswax forms a protective seal over your lips,
it helps lock in moisture, which helps soften lips;
it also creates a pleasing sheen.
Because beeswax is biologically active even after processing, it

contains skin-friendly antioxidants and even has some anti-bacterial properties.

Products containing salicylic acid, a skin irritant, may foster lip balm addiction; beeswax, on the other hand, contains no skin irritants.

Beeswax Soothes and Heals The Skin....

Beeswax is a natural anti-inflammatory.
It heals and minimizes eruptions, acne, redness and minor rashes.
The anti-bacterial and anti-microbial elements prevent infections from developing while healing existing discomforts.

***On the downside, beeswax lip balms tend to cost more than other lip care options.***

USES....
Face and body creams contain both water and oil elements. Oil and water will not mix willingly, but with an emulsifier they blend together.
The emulsifier breaks the oil and the water into tiny droplets that fuse to create creamy face and body creams. Beeswax provides the necessary emulsifying elements to create a skin cream without synthetic chemicals, while infusing the cream
with natural healing and deep moisturizing properties.

www.ehow.com
Beeswax is used in....
  • medical creams,
  • cosmetics,
  • lip balms,
  • ointments,
  • lotions,
  • soaps
  • dental floss.
  • You can also use beeswax as a remedy for stretch marks,
  • eczema,
  • chapped lips,
  • cuts
  • cracked heels.

POSSIBLE ALLERGIES...
if you are allergic to honey or related products, it's best recommended to avoid beeswax and products containing beeswax

Call/text/whatsapp +254725733412 for more queries and quotations regarding a bee keeper, organic unfiltered honey supplier or just honey-related products..

Anti-oxidants; your health!!

www.rayandterry.com
Chemistry of Oxidants
Free radicals or oxidants are molecules containing single unpaired electrons, and are on the lookout for electrons to pair up. Exogenous and endogenous oxidants or free radicals are the major cause of over a hundred human diseases.

The process of ageing is also hastened by the onslaught of oxidants in the body.

Oxidants are normally produced during healthy cellular metabolism, wherein 98 per cent of the oxygen consumed by a cell is converted to water. The remaining one to two per cent of the unutilised oxygen is free to escape as free radicals.

A portion of the oxidants go on a rampage damaging cell membranes, lipids, DNA etc. causing significant cell defects or destruction. Natural endogenous free radicals or oxidants are derived not only from metabolic reactions, but also from physiological and psychological stress and immunological reactions to microbial infections and allergens
Much of this damage is repaired by naturally occurring antioxidant systems that scavenge oxidants, but not all of them.

Oxidative stress...

Oxidative stress occurs when the production of harmful molecules called free radicals is beyond the protective capability of the antioxidant defenses
Free radicals are chemically active atoms or molecular fragments that have a charge due to an excess or deficient number of electrons.

HOW OXIDANTS DAMAGE THE BODY..

If oxidants are not paired with electrons, they start a series of chain reactions leading to damage of living cells and tissues. This may lead to development of various degenerative diseases including artherosclerotic heart disease, diabetes, skin ailments, arthritis, smoking induced lung disease and, neurodegenerative disorders, cataract, retinopathy, macular degeneration, and cancer, and may also increase the rates of mortality associated with some of these diseases.

Taking care of yourself

What are antioxidants and how do they work...?

Antioxidants are molecules which can safely interact with free radicals and terminate the chain reaction before vital molecules are damaged.

Antioxidants are nutrients (vitamins and minerals) as well as enzymes (proteins in your body that assist in chemical reactions)

Natural Antioxidants

The vitamins particularly ;
  • vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene and other carotenoids,
  • vitamin C or ascorbic acid,
  • vitamin E as tocopherols and tocotrienols function as independently active natural dietary antioxidants.

Minerals are the other dietary antioxidants that are critical to the activation of vital antioxidant enzyme systems in the body.

  • Selenium is required for the antioxidant activity of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase.
  • Zinc is essential for the activity of at least 90 enzymes including the antioxidant enzymes catalase and superoxide dismutase.
  • Copper and manganese are also needed for superoxide dismutase activity.

We can get most of these antioxidants through the diet, but most are destroyed during cooking and processing. This is why supplementation is very important, especially if you are not keen on your diet.
These vitamins and minerals can easily be bought at a pharmacy or health store without a prescription (
Or you can simply contact me to get all these details..)

※always follow the recommended dosage, and consult with your doctor if you have any pre-existing conditions otherwise you may risk toxicity/poisoning of the liver by over-indulging ※

Supplementation of these dietary antioxidants in the right concentrations is important for protection against disease and premature ageing, healthy skin, hair and nails.

Mental health: Stress

Mental Health: Stress
www.chironhealingcentre.com
※ A mango tree with a low self esteem cannot produce plums... A mango tree on a bad day cannot change the principle that God put into it to produce after its kind. ※

Stress is here with us to stay. We encounter stressors daily and most often, we just have to deal with it...
The problem is that, stress over a long period of time has some very serious implications on our mental health, and eventually, our physical stress.

One of the leading causes of depression is stress!!
And stress can come from anywhere; from work, to family, to friends, projects, dreams and goals... and the most influential factor; how we perceive ourselves - when you look at yourself in the mirror, do you love or hate the person you see in the reflection?

Well, as per Prof. P.G. Kioy, there are some guidelines on stress management.(plus a list of medical specialists as per UAP insurance)

※※※These guidelines are not universal, but they are very handy, and I always refer to them from time to time even when I am not under much stress.

So here goes:

★Don't put off relaxing - use some physical relaxation adjuncts or techniques like music, autogenic training, yoga, transcendal meditation, sauna, steam bath, spa sessions, massage etc (personally i prefer music and yoga)

★Avoid self medication with tranquilizers, alcohol, nicotine or coffee/high caffeine products (I am guilty of these, but I am gradually incorporating vitamins and mineral supplements, diet and exercise to reduce my dependency, especially on tranquilizers)

★Work off stress using light physical exercise, games, house chores, walking the dogs etc. Just don't strain yourself; once you feel overwhelmed, take that break otherwise you will burn out.

★Get enough sleep as much as possible without use of sleeping pills (or if you are already using them, start weaning yourself gradually; (milk and honey works best for me before bed time)

★Rest whenever you are sick and DO NOT flog yourself; you are not lazy - straining yourself will only compromise your immunity further.

★Learn to accept what you cannot change - don't cry over spilt milk or bang your head against the wall ; all you will get is a headache (easier said than done, but you need to practice it daily and your life will be much simpler)

★Learn and practice to agree rather than disagree, and avoid entrenching interpersonal conflicts, especially with close family members and colleagues (don't be a doormat - if something is against your principles, do not be coerced to participate - you will actually be less stressed!!)

★Know when you are tired and rest. Do not push yourself beyond your abilities - you will end up seeing more doctors than friends!!!

★Plan your day ahead and plan your chores REALISTICALLY. The only work that remains undone at the end of the day is work you had not planned for (and learn to acknowledge that your day is not wasted even if only one task was accomplished - don't be lazy; but don't work yourself like an ox either)

★Be a better time manager, and leave TIME BUFFERS between commitments for unexpected emergencies - we live in an imperfect world; anything can happen.

So, there you go. I have used these points to try organize my life systematically. It has been a process; two years down the line but I am glad to be reaping the benefits.
I hope the same for you. God gave us life so that we can live it and enjoy it, not to be tormented.

This is Serenity!!
